Surprise me.

If you’ve ever gone out to eat with me, you know I love all foods, I love to try new things and I often will ask the waiter or waitress to surprise me (possibly with small parameters but typically not).

My problem is that I honestly have the hardest time choosing want to choose because I like too many things. I think there’s something to be said about trusting the people behind the kitchen doors and knowing that if I can allow myself to be open to something, it’s probably best. I always wonder, “What happens when you go through life never having tried certain things and then you miss out on possibly the most delicious thing you’ve ever tasted!?” On occasion it’s the worst decision ever- kind of like when I told the waitress to surprise me at a swanky restaurant in Boston and she put the order into the kitchen for the $75 Kobe Steak… whoops! Not that I really complained about it! It was GOOD.

This sort of thought process is how I try to look at my life. Gotta be ever evolving. Lean in to change. So, the next time you’re not sure what you want to eat at a restaurant, ask the waitstaff to just “surprise you”. If anything it makes for a fun dining experience.

Cheers to surprising your palate!

Let’s eat.

I mean really, what’s better than taking a bite (or sip!) of something truly delicious? Is there anything like waking up to the smell of coffee? What about cooking something and having it come out just the way you wanted it to? I have a love of pretty much all things food. All things that are simmered, whipped, sautéed, roasted and crispy.

“Come on guys, let’s eat!”

Growing up, my mom and dad always made sure we had enough food on the table and it was a priority to sit down, at least once a day together. “Come on guys, let’s eat!” All four of us, around the table. If we couldn’t have dinner together for whatever reason that day, we would have breakfast. Mom never once disappointed with cinnamon rolls (even if she had to wake up at 5am to start them) or the can’t-ever- go- wrong spaghetti and dad always knew how to cook a filet on the grill to perfection. Food was love. It was time together.

I still look at my time eating with my family and friends as a time to connect, a time to sit, breathe and be social. When I cook, food is my way of showing my favorite people how much I love them and It’s a way of showing myself how much I respect my body and soul. When I eat out, it’s a time for adventure and excitement and relaxation.

When I decided to start a blog, it was for me to have fun sharing my personal passion with the world. If you like to eat and try new things, you’re definitely my kind of person.

Let’s eat!
